all I really want is to dip my feet then cannonball it. it won’t be just me. y’all are coming along because it’s symbiotic. i really wanna...all i really want is to dip my head underwater. i will try my best but i’ll take a breath because it’s automatic. i really wanna... i really wanna warm this place, do the giant rope swing at toad lake. and maybe we can hang out everyday, sing this song and wash it away. but all it really takes for me to dip my feet and cannonball it is just a warmer place but i can’t complain because it’s symbiotic. i really wanna...i really wanna warm this place, do the giant rope swing at toad lake. and maybe we can hang out everyday, sing this song and wash it away. all i really want is to dip my head underwater. all it really takes is just a warmer time, that’s automatic. all i really want is to dip my feet and cannonball it. all it really takes is just a warmer place. it’s symbiotic.

well i can’t tell where we are. it looks just like hell. the truck fell apart. and i can’t tell why we’re driving. and i can’t tell why we’re driving into skylines heading south. we stop in towns. we look so young. if only they knew just what we had done. i think they could tell why we’re driving. i think they could tell why we’re driving into skylines heading south. well our eyes rolled back cause we hadn’t slept in nights. and our food went bad cause we never kept it right. and the truck collapsed cause the wheels were not on tight. well here we are. the city awaits. arcata was nice for giving us shake. and now i can tell why we’re driving. and now i can tell why we’re driving into skylines heading south. well our eyes rolled back cause we hadn’t slept in nights. and our food went bad cause we never kept it right. and the truck collapsed cause the wheels were not on tight.

this one takes you back when we were ten. we would swim. and i still feel the salt crack on my skin...when we’d swim. alright, i really need to tell you why i really haven’t been around quite as much as you have tried to reach. it’s like i’ve never witnessed any long ties, i’ve never witnessed any quick writes, i’ve never used the internet... this one take you back, when four foot ten. we would swim. and i still feel the salt lift all my limbs...help me swim. this is the song you write when you’re older. these are the chords i’ve known since i met you.

about

These recordings were made over the course of nine months. We started tracking in Andrew's basement on Ellis St. All initial drums, bass and guitar tracks were recorded there. When it became time to record vocals, we moved over to Noah's house on J street and shouted in his dining room for three days. The songs then went back to Andrew's living room, where we rattled keys and discovered that tambourine is way harder than it looks. Then, we started mixing the thing at our house on Ellis, just a few blocks north of Andrew's house. At the Ellis house, we retracked most of the guitar takes, cut half of the songs out of now LP-turned-EP, retracked some bass, and invited the illustrious Ryan Patrick Wapnoski over to record some sax on the last track. We finished mixing in January 2013 and Luke paced back and forth in the kitchen every night for a few weeks thinking about whether he liked it or not. Finally, we were able to place a final mix in the hands of Mr. Christopher Vita, who mastered this thing at Vita Mastering in Portland, OR.

In memory of Perry Coward.
